Potentiodynamic polarization curves of AA7075 at high scan rates interpreted using the high field model

Abstract The drastic distortion of potentiodynamic polarization curves measured at high potential scan rates prevents the extraction accurate kinetic parameters. In this work, we start by measuring AA7075 ranging from 0.167 mV·s ?1 to 100 , in an acidic 0.62 M NaH 2 PO 4 solution and a near-neutral 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. Changes are observed not only different electrolytes but also between replicated experiments. Contrary what was reported previous studies, disturbance charging current associated with does satisfactorily explain shape. Instead, field model that incorporates kinetics anodic oxide growth successfully captures features experimental curves. Compared Tafel’s theory, explains remarkably changing rates, electrolytes, variance measurements performed sites.
